Covid 19 has seemingly arrived like a tornado and dumped all of us into a new world. At Blackburn Law Firm, PLLC – LifePlanLaw.com, we recognize the need for social distancing and serving our clients while keeping them, our lawyers, and staff safe and healthy.
During the Covid 19 pandemic, we are taking a number of precautions. We are limiting in person consultations with clients – whenever possible, consultations are accomplished by video or telephone. No one is permitted to enter the office if they have a fever, cough, sneezing, or other symptoms of illness.
Because most life plan documents should be explained and then must be executed in the physical presence of witnesses and a notary, we are explaining, witnessing and notarizing documents in person, in the office. While we do not have N95 masks available, we have gloves and cloth coverings available. Cathy or Spencer review documents with clients by sitting more than 6 feet distant from them. Staff witnesses stay more than 6 feet from clients and each other.
After clients leave the office, we disinfect all surfaces with a virucide. We disinfect all surfaces at least daily, and more often if people are in the office. Unless needed to witness documents or perform some other critical task, staff work from home. Clients can enter the conference room directly from the outside and need not walk through the office or work spaces.
Blackburn Law Firm – LifePlanLaw.com continues to evaluate and implement technological enhancements such as video conferencing, electronic signing of contracts, secure/encrypted email communication and electronic document exchange, online payment portal, fillable information forms, and more. Text messaging and cellular exchange of photographs and documents is available. We liberally use traditional communication and exchange methods such as fax, priority mail, and Federal Express courier service. In the presence of Covid 19, we strive to limit personal contact and will continue to implement guidelines from official agencies and sources.
